I apologize for not getting through all the material for the plasma membrane II lecture.
I guess the initial review of slides from the first lecture and the fact that I added the new material on the channelopathies, led to a slight timing problem. Do not worry, anything that I had to skip over you will hear at least several more times in the course of the semester/year.
You can be certain that all the key information I needed to tell you from lecture 2 was covered thoroughly during lecture time.
I do not want you to be concerned that you will need to study the slides/material, or get tested on what I did not get to go over. So for the second lecture I gave on 8/23:
1.) You do not have to study slides 112-121 (these slides really contained just minimally more actual information, as it turns out).
2.) You can ignore the learning objective #4.
3.) In learning objective #7, just learn about MDR1, not cystic fibrosis. (You will get a full coverage of cystic fibrosis at a later point).
As always I am available to answer or clarify any points at any time. I will post the study guide I usually provide during my review session on web CT on late Friday afternoon. I will use this as the basis for my upcoming review session (indicated on your schedule).
P.S. There was an inadvertant mistake/typo, etc. in the answer that was indicated as correct for my formative question on glucose transporter (GLUT). The correct answer is not E. I am sure you can determine the clearly correct answer from your notes. I do not want to announce it here as some students have not worked on answering the formatives yet.
You may email me to get the answer, and I will post it as a web CT announcement on this coming Tuesday.
